Peter L. Dray
Chief Innovation Officer
Age 56
Peter L. Dray was appointed our chief innovation officer effective as of January 1, 2012. Prior to this appointment, Mr. Dray was the company’s executive vice president of operations and product development since June 2007. Mr. Dray, a 24-year veteran of GFA Brands, has more than 35 years of food manufacturing and sales and marketing experience and 30 years experience as a senior operations executive. He developed, perfected, and now manages the outsourced manufacturing model that is the cornerstone of the Smart Balance virtual business. He has also played a central role in building the Smart Balance® brands. Prior to joining GFA, Mr. Dray played a key role in the growth of the Weight Watchers® brand. Mr. Dray is a graduate of New York University, where he earned his bachelor’s degree in food and nutrition. He also received his AAS in food management from the State University of New York at Delhi.

John Becker
Executive Vice President of Smart Balance
Age 45
John Becker is the senior vice president/general manager for the Smart Balance brand for Boulder Brands, Inc. John joined Smart Balance in January 2011 and has responsibility for the portfolio of Smart Balance branded products. Prior to joining Smart Balance, John was Vice President of Marketing for the Breyers Yogurt Company from 2007 through 2010. The Breyers Yogurt Company is a private equity backed rollup of Breyers Yogurt and YoCrunch Yogurt. Prior to Breyers, John held various marketing positions with Nestlé on the HOT POCKETS and LEAN POCKETS brand businesses from 1998 to 2007. Prior to Nestlé, John held various marketing positions at General Mills, working on brands such as Yoplait and Pop Secret. John holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Dartmouth College and an MBA from the Amos Tuck School of Business. John and his wife Kaye have 4 children and live in Golden, Colorado. His outside interests include triathlons, mountain biking, golf and skiing.

T.J. McIntyre
Executive Vice President of Natural
Age 41
T.J. McIntyre is senior vice president/general manager of the Natural Portfolio at Boulder Brands, Inc. From 2009 to current, he has served in a variety of roles at Smart Balance, including vice president/general manager of Earth Balance, vice president/general manger of Glutino, and now, managing Udi’s Gluten Free. Prior to joining Smart Balance, T.J. served as brand manager of Silk at White Wave Foods Company, leading up to the acquisition by Dean Foods. From 2005 – 2009, he pursued entrepreneurial endeavors in specialty tea and coffee, including co-founding Pekoe Sip House – a regional tea/coffee chain in Boulder, CO; and also co-founding Pixie Mate (with friend and colleague Duane Primozich) that led to a sale to Third Street Chai in 2009. T.J. holds a Bachelor of Arts degree from Michigan State University and an MBA with a concentration in marketing and entrepreneurship from the University of Oregon. When he isn’t busying himself with natural foods brands and business, he enjoys escaping to the Rocky Mountains with his wife Molly and 3 children.

Christine Sacco
Chief Financial Officer and Treasurer
Age 37
Christine Sacco was appointed our chief financial officer effective as of January 1, 2012. Prior to this appointment, Ms. Sacco was the company’s vice president and operations controller since January 1, 2011. Up until March 30, 2012, she also served as the principal accounting officer. Prior to joining the company, Ms. Sacco served as vice president, treasurer and director of financial reporting of Alpharma Inc., where she worked from October 2002 until January 2008. Alpharma Inc., formerly a public company and now a subsidiary of Pfizer Inc., provides a broad range of pharmaceutical and animal health products. Ms. Sacco is a certified public accountant and holds a bachelor’s degree in accounting from St. Thomas Aquinas College.

Norman J. Matar
Executive Vice President, General Counsel and Corporate Secretary
Age 59
Norman J. Matar has been our executive vice president, general counsel and corporate secretary since January 2008. Mr. Matar comes to Smart Balance with 30 years of private practice experience, the last 20 with Davis & Kuelthau, S.C., where he served on the board for 12 years. Mr. Matar has extensive experience handling all aspects of corporate legal work with both public and private firms including significant mergers and acquisitions experience. He was the lead attorney in the acquisition of GFA Brands by the company in May 2007. Throughout his 30 years in private practice, Mr. Matar obtained extensive experience in the food industry, representing a wide variety of food companies including retailers and manufacturers as well as food companies in the industrial and food service segments of the industry. He played a key role in the development of Miller Park in Milwaukee. Mr. Matar attended Marquette University where he received his bachelor’s and doctor of jurisprudence degrees.
